ORPHANAGE VISIT

By annually holding its orphanage visits, BSS provides to its members an avenue where they can give back to society in spite of the heavy load of Biology majors have. Spend a day with kids – play and talk to them, test your patience, and let out your inner child. Charity works of BSS primarily aim to develop a sense of awareness, sympathy and action among its members.

CRUSH NG BIO

To promote camaraderie, social relations and healthy competition between coursemates, Crush ng Bio is a pageant-type competition that best showcases not only the academic prowess of Biology students but also the innate beauty, wit and charm of its students. This is an ideal venue for clothing, fashion, beauty and other organizations interested in product promotion and exposure.

The pageant includes fashion show of clothes made from recycled materials, question and answer portion, and the showcase of talent. Last year’s theme was Survival of the Finest where the contestants were assigned to one endangered, endemic species and this species will be the inspiration for the clothes and the photo exhibit.

TOXIC

Toxic, a sem-ender party is a fundraising event by the Biological Sciences Society in partnership with other establishment that aims to establish camaraderie, brotherhood and societal interactions in a fun party setting. The party is usually held in trendy hotspots and clubs in the metropolis around the homestretch of the first semester. The party is the hottest and coolest place to be after five months of non-stop academic intensity. Join in and party with us!

But here’s the deal, we don’t hold parties just for the sake of it. The proceeds of the event are donated to charitable institutions or used in the charitable activities of BSS.

Talk about hitting two birds with one stone. ;)

BSS is back!
But what is BSS exactly? The Biological Sciences Society (BSS) is an academic, non-profit, CAS-based organization that aims to promote and to contribute to the progress of the biological sciences, and to propagate the value of such knowledge in the world. BSS is also concerned about the development and well-being of man, as it organizes various activities for the welfare of its members and cooperators.
How to be a member? From Article V, Section I of the Constitution, “The society shall consist of all bonafide students of the UP CAS Manila who have taken 5 units of any biological science course.” Biology majors automatically qualifies the organization but you can join even you’re not.
So this coming June, we’ll be hoping to welcome YOU to our family. :-)
Wait up for the application details which will be posted here soon!
